Majorca (Majorca in Castilian and Catalan) is the largest of the Balearic Islands. It is located in sea (The term sea covers several realities.) Mediterranean, off Valencia.
L'island (An island is an area of land surrounded by water, whether this water is that of a river, a...) has approximately 814,275 inhabitants. Her capital city (A capital (from the Latin caput, capitis, head) is a city where the powers sit,...) is Palma de Mallorca – Mallorcans call it City. It comprises 6 main regions: Tramuntana (mountains, north), Ponent (at the South West), raid (agricultural and wine-growing land at the foot of the mountain), Pla (In the center), Migjorn (to the East), Levant (southeast) and the city of Palma.
It was inhabited from the prehistoric period (sites of Its Païsses, near the city of Arta), then by the Romans (ruins of Alcúdia, ex-Roman Pollentia), replaced by the Almoravid Moors, then the Almohades (from 902 to 1229), followed by the Catalans. The island was the center of an independent kingdom which existed from 1276 to 1344, the kingdom of Majorca. the Catalan is the official language along with Castilian.
About 70% of sound inner product (In differential geometry, the inner product is an operation...) crude comes from tourism (Tourism is the fact of leaving one's home, for personal reasons, for a period...)developed from the 1960s. For Germans, Majorca is one of the main European holiday resorts, attracting number (The notion of number in linguistics is treated in the article "Number...) foreigners, which earned the island the ironic nickname of "seventeenth Land". 7% of the island's permanent residents are Germans. L'activity (The term activity can refer to a profession.) traditional farming is centered on plant production: wine (Binissalem), almonds, olives, vegetables.
If in many minds Majorca remains synonymous with anarchic tourism, inspired by the sea and pushed by an urbanization of mass (The term mass is used to designate two quantities attached to one...) ("Balearization"), the island and the life (Life is the name given 🙂 Majorcan offer many aspects that contradict this vision: preserved agricultural villages, tracks (TRACES (TRAde Control and Expert System) is a veterinary health network of...) diverse past cultures, art and culture (The UNESCO definition of culture is as follows 🙂 (to XIIIe century, the philosopher Raymond Lully – Ramon Llull – founded in Majorca a renowned school of languages and theology), walking (Walking (the pleonasm walking is also often used) is a...) and hiking in mountainous areas, gastronomy.
The tourist influx has become more varied (origins and lifestyles), with a growing share ofimmigration (Immigration today refers to the entry into a country of people...) of Europeans from north (North is a cardinal point, opposite to south.) coming to settle permanently.
In recent years, this "balearization" has been increasingly controlled by the local government, eager to protect its heritage, culture and language. Many areas have been declared “nature reserves”, thus protecting the coastline against this anarchic expansion.
