Golf in Menorca
Visitors who want to play golf in Menorca should visit Menorca’s single golf course located at Club Son Parc within the grounds of the Urbanisation of Son Parc. A sizeable holiday development on the island’s northern coast and close to the town of Es Mercandal and the resorts of Fornells and Arenal d’en Castell, Club Son Parc started out with only nine holes but is currently being expanded and remodelled to include 18 holes and a picturesque lake.
Golf in Menorca can be played all year round at Club Son Parc, which encompasses an 18-bay driving range, a putting green and a chipping area. Dressing rooms and shower facilities are available and visitors can enjoy drinks or a meal at the clubhouse and Club Son Parc’s excellent restaurant. Golf clubs, carts, balls and other necessary items are available for hire on the grounds or alternatively you can purchase them from the on-site golf shop. To keep non-golfers amused, the club has incorporated tennis courts into the grounds and walking or horseback riding excursions through the scenic environs can be arranged.
In keeping with Menorca’s laid back island atmosphere, the dress code at Club Son Parc is fairly relaxed. T-shirts and shorts are permissible and specialised golf shoes are not required. However, metal spiked shoes, men’s sleeveless vests, swimming costumes and flip flops are prohibited and shirts should be worn on the course and in the clubhouse at all times.
Junior golfers are welcome at Club Son Parc and children can play in relevant club and family competitions, but young players who do not fully understand the rules of golf and are not in possession of a Federation or handicap license must be accompanied by an adult. Golf lessons are available for junior or amateur players.
Son Parc Urbanisation offers accommodation in the form of two hotels, villas and apartments, and has a good selection of shops, bars and eateries. Son Parc beach is one of the loveliest sand beaches on Menorca; it is backed by dunes and offers a variety of water sports.
