Nightlife & bars in Ciutadella

While Ciutadella’s nightlife may not appeal to the average club junkie fresh from Ibiza, it is perfect suited to visitors looking for a more relaxed, ambient scene or a lively evening of tapas bars and jazz. Unlike some of its sister islands, Menorca does not cater for a young and restless crowd looking for thumping all-night parties, but rather to a more selective, laid-back clientele. As a result, entertainment is not focused on raging clubs or dance halls, but rather on late-night bars that play an eclectic assortment of jazz, blues and modern music and feature occasional live acts.

Nightlife is centred around the marina area, where an abundance of restaurants, cafés and bars are dotted along Ciutadella’s seafront, setting the stage for vibrant late night action. Many chic tapas bars and top notch seafood restaurants are located here and an excellent start to a night out is going for a meal or tapas snacks accompanied by some delicious Spanish wine and fabulous views of the fishing boats and yachts docked in the pretty marina.

Though the venues along the harbour collectively make up Ciutadella’s most buzzing nightlife sector, the heart of the city is also dotted with enticing dining spots and late night bars. With its narrow streets and beautiful buildings, the inner city is potently atmospheric at night when the effects of the street lights emphasise Moorish architectural façades, snaking alleys and Ciutadella’s ancient charm.
