Hotels in Palma

Palma has literally hundreds of hotels in the city centre and throughout its suburbs, most of which become full in the high season months of July and August. If you plan on visiting Palma during this busy time, you need to book well in advance or you may end up staying outside of your intended destination.

The shoulder season months of May and June, as well as September and October are also busy times in Palma and advance booking is also required to avoid disappointment. Like the resorts, many hotels close down during the winter period or between November and April, while those in prime spots remain open all year round and usually offer discounts during the low season.

El Terreno is a popular area for cheaper accommodation, but it has a somewhat sleazy reputation and is known for being noisy. Paseo Maritimo has some quality hotels as does Paseo Majorca in the centre of town, with its range of expensive shops; while the old town has attractive, yet expensive accommodation around the cathedral and Born Plaza.

Staying in one of Palma’s suburbs is also an option. The city’s environs reach out as far as Playa de Palma in the east (part of the coast connected to El Arenal) and past Illetas in the west. A huge number of hotels in all categories can be found in Cala Mayor along Paseo Marítimo on the way to Palma Nova, as well as in nearby San Agusti.

Farther along the C719 road that connects Palma with Paseo Marítimo is the exclusive resort of Illetas, also a suburb of Palma. The hotels and facilities here are of high quality and you won’t find any hotels beneath a four star rating. Some hotels in this location have their own private stretch of Palma Bay coast.

Back in the city, there are also some themed hotels, plus converted mansions and palaces with extensive facilities which take in well paying guests.
