Illetas
Illetas is an upmarket resort that lies on Majorca’s southwest coast between bustling Palma Nova, Magaluf and the capital, Palma. Illetas is unspoiled by tourism and appeals mainly to families with older children and couples looking for a retreat from Majorca’s hectic resorts.
Situated on a hill overlooking the beautiful Palma Bay, Illetas is a stylish and elegant seaside retreat with a price tag to match. Illetas’ exclusivity and close proximity to both Palma and nearby world-class golf courses make it a real draw for holidaymakers who have deep pockets.
There are two small secluded calas that offer protected bathing in crystal clear waters and lovely sandy beaches. If you are looking for greater privacy from the crowds then some of the hotels in the upper price range have their own private stretch of coast.
There is a range of fashionable boutiques and terrace cafés here, while night time entertainment is limited to a few open air bars and the hotels.
Farther afield and even more exclusive is the residential resort of Portals Nous on the road to Palma Nova. Portals has a fabulous marina and offers some entertainment options for the whole family, including Marineland and a number of top quality golf courses. Palma is never far away for those who crave some culture and history and nearby Palma Nova and Magaluf provide extra activities.
Transabus number 108 runs the length of the southwest coast, serving all the major resorts and Palma, as does the Pagueras bound bus number 10M, while Palma is a 10-minute taxi ride and the airport a 20-minute drive.
