Hotels in Alcudia
Most hotels in Alcudia are centred in the resort itself and the port area, which lies at the western edge of the beautiful Alcudia Bay. The town of Alcudia, located just over a mile inland from the port, has a smattering of hotels, but is mainly given over to sightseeing.
Although most of the activity is focused around the harbour area, the resort actually stretches right around Alcudia Bay, past the upmarket Muro and onto C’an Picafort, the German section of the bay. A main road runs the length of Alcudia Bay within two or three hundred metres from the beach and it is a good idea to check which side of the road your hotel is on before you make a booking.
When choosing a hotel in Alcudia, one thing you should consider is how you are going to get around the resort if your hotel is away from the port area, as public transport in Alcudia during the high season can become overrun.
Alcudia also encompasses the resort of Playa de Muro, so be careful if your hotel has Muro as an address as it will be a long way from the port in Alcudia. However, if you are going upmarket and are looking for a five star establishment, the newer resort of Playa de Muro is worth considering as there is a higher concentration of quality hotels here than in Alcudia.
As much of the evening entertainment in Alcudia is hotel based, hotels in Alcudia generally have excellent facilities where flamenco dancing dinner shows and cabaret style entertainment are very popular. However, Alcudia also has a number of bars and nightclubs, but not to the extent of the popular southern resorts.
Alcudia is a year round resort and the hotels are busiest during the high season months of July and August, when prices are at their highest and booking well in advance is recommended. The shoulder season months of May, June and September can also be busy, while winter time discounts are usually available.
