Getting around

Getting around in Ibiza is easy, and there are both good bus and ferry services.

The island has some real treasures worth exploring, from beautiful secluded beaches to luscious green countryside and peaks that afford amazing coastal views. However, many visitors to Ibiza don’t realise that getting around the island is so easy and tend to get stuck in their resorts, forgetting that the world beyond their local beach exists.

With such fantastic landscapes to explore and off the beaten track territory all within half an hour’s drive or an easy ferry trip away, visitors are recommended to at least try and see more of the island than just the stretch between their hotel room and the beach!

One option is to hire a car during your stay. This gives you the flexibility of being able to go where you want and when you want. The island’s roads are good and there is some stunning coastal scenery. If you can’t drive or hiring a car is beyond your budget, the bus services are efficient and inexpensive.

Cycling is another popular way to buzz about the island although not all routes are flat. You can bring your bicycle with you or you can rent one when you arrive. There are several tried and tested cycling routes across the island; however, take care not to get lost as some of the trails aren’t marked very clearly and you might end up farther off the beaten track than you intended.

On foot is a great way to get exercise and see the more intricate details of the island. Most resorts are within easy walking distance of two or three other coves or beaches, so it’s worth checking out what is in easy walking distance of your hotel. There are also some inland tracks that take you through luscious pine-covered hills.

Taxis are ideal for short trips from one place to another, although they can be difficult to find, especially during the peak season or club kick out time.
