Restaurants Ibiza
Whether you are looking for traditional Ibicencan dishes, international cuisine, or just a burger, Ibiza Town has literally hundreds of places to dine, so you will never be short of delicious, mouth-watering opportunities to indulge in some holiday feasting.
Ibiza Town is lucky because it has such a range of places to eat in different settings, aimed at different tastes and crowds. So whether you are looking for a sophisticated place to be seen or just a casual terrace in the old quarters, Ibiza offers a good balance.
The wonderful warm evening climate means that almost all restaurants in the town have some form of outdoor seating where you can often sit and watch all the action in the street.
There are a few different areas in the town that are popular among diners, the old town being a particular favourite. Here you can dine in the windy, narrow streets in an atmospheric medieval setting. The port, where you can gorge on fresh seafood while watching early revellers starting out on their night out, is another favourite place to dine, and if you’re lucky, you can catch a glimpse of the club promoters handing out their flyers, more often than not in huge parades and eye-catching outfits.
Behind the port, Sa Penya has a few delicious places and tends to be popular among the gay community. Marina Botafoch is an upmarket area where you can dine while admiring the million-dollar yachts and cruisers docked in the harbour. This is the place to eat if you want to brush shoulders with DJs and other celebrities.
The large international clientele in Ibiza has ensured that restaurants catering to the needs of holidaymakers have sprung up everywhere and you can easily find almost any type of food you are looking for, whether it is Italian, Chinese, or Spanish.
If it’s just snack food you are after and not a full blown meal, there are many coffee and cake shops in which to grab a quick bite. If you are missing home, then all the usual fast food chains exist here; some have delivery services if you find the night before has left you feeling fragile.
Popular restaurants that have built up their reputation over the years pack out in the summer months and it is advisable to book first if you don’t want to be eating a bag of chips down the road. Menus don’t change that often, so if you are someone who gets bored easily, you might not want to return to the same venue when you come back next season.
As with most European destinations, it is usual to tip 10 per cent if you feel the service was good. The prices at some of the more sophisticated restaurants might give you a mild heart attack so it’s worth having a glance at the menu before you take your seat because prices can vary considerably.
Unlike in some of the other resorts on the island, most restaurants in Ibiza Town stay open all year round, although you will find many of the establishments a lot quieter during the winter months and unrecognizable as the same places that are filled to the rafters during the peak season.
