Nightlife and bars
The nightlife and bars in San Antonio live up to the resort’s reputation as the party capital of the island. There is an abundance of nightlife and bars, discos, and super-clubs, ensuring that visitors never suffer a dull moment.
The evenings start late in ‘San An’, as it is affectionately known by its predominantly British clientele, with many people not finished dining until midnight. Some bars don’t open until 23:00; however, favourite drinking spots, such as the centre of town, the West End, and the bars along Sunset Strip, usually get going earlier.
The bigger nightclubs in San Antonio don’t open until midnight and don’t really get going until about 02:00, so most party-goers choose get started in one of the town’s bars or one of the club sponsored warm-up parties at a designated venue.
The advantage of attending the warm-up parties is that you get to check out who’s going to be at the club later, drinks are cheaper, and you can pick up flyers that entitle you to a discount on entry into the club.
The majority of the super-clubs are just outside the town. Nights are advertised on flyers and billboards spread throughout San Antonio. Expect to pay around €6 for a drink in a bar and more in a club. Entrance fees to the bigger clubs vary from €30 to €50 a ticket, so it’s not cheap!
Among the bigger clubs in San An include; Amnesia, the birthplace of the Balearic Beat and home to the famous foam parties, this venue hosts some of the island’s biggest nights including Cream and Gatecrasher; Privilege, the largest nightclub in the world, complete with swimming pool in the middle, famous for its Manumission nights; Eden, impressive audio-visual systems and Judge Jules spinning the decks every Sunday; and Esparadise, one of Ibiza’s oldest clubs.
Many of the clubs run free bus services to and from the centre, making it easier for you to get there and back.
