Cala Llonga
Most people are attracted to the lovely resort of Cala Llonga for its stunning white sandy beach and the picturesque pine-covered hills that surround the bay.
Cala Llonga, situated on the eastern coast of the island, is a fairly small resort boasting a wide beach with shallow, crystal clear water, making it ideal for children. If you are looking for a holiday centred on the beach, Cala Llonga is ideal, with its clean and comfortable surroundings; the beachfront is lined with hotels and apartments, many of which offer swimming pools.
The atmosphere here is quiet, relaxed and peaceful, and the resort attracts a lot of families. Among other facilities, there are small amusement parks and playgrounds for children dotted along the beach, shops, a supermarket, restaurants, bars, and cafés, all in close proximity to the beach.
Natural shade on the beach is scarce, so it is necessary to rent a sunshade; however, most of the beachfront hotels provide them for free to guests.
Water sports are a popular activity here and include windsurfing, waterskiing, parasailing, pedalos and sailing; the 100-metre-wide beach is the perfect place for beach sports such as volleyball.
It is also possible to take walks into the pine-clad hills that surround the bay and afford panoramic ocean views from their tops. If you are more into golf, then the closest course is only a five-minute drive away at Roca Llisa.
Evenings here are low-key and most people choose to stay around their accommodation at night, with several hotels providing their own evening entertainment.
The resort can get crowded during the high season from June to September. If you are looking for a more peaceful holiday, it is best to visit during the low season when the resort is sparsely populated.
With the resort being so well appointed, there is no real reason to leave the bay; however, should you want to check out nearby towns, Cala Llonga has good transport links.
The resort is accessible by road or ferry from Santa Eulalia (about 10 minutes) and Ibiza Town (about 15 minutes) and both journeys provide you with impressive scenery along the way.
